Send Jesus

Send out your light and your truth:
let them lead me;

Psalm 43:3a (ESV)

I can’t say for sure whether David was speaking prophetically or poetically here when he asks God to send out His light and truth so that he may be led by them.

Centuries later, Jesus speaks of the truth and where it leads.

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except though me.”

John 14:6 (ESV)

Jesus is the answer to David’s prayer regarding truth. He is also the answer regarding light.

You word is a lamp to my feet
and a light to my path.

Psalm 119:105 (ESV)

God’s word is the light. What is the word? Better yet, who is the Word?

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

John 1:1 (ESV)

If we were to take David’s words and apply what we know today, they may look something like this:

Send Jesus.
Let him lead me.
