Joshua 1:18b
Do you think God might be trying to make a point in the first chapter of Joshua?
Even with the Promised Land in sight, Israel, especially her new leader, Joshua, needed a constant reminder to be strong and courageous. Why? Just because God made a promise doesn’t mean it won’t be scary. Sometimes we need to remind ourselves of this fact. Walking the path God has set before us isn’t the easiest path, but it’s the only path God will walk on with us.
In the battle, be strong. In the dark, be courageous.
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.
Joshua 1:9 (ESV)
